USA: 11 injured people shooting in New Orleans
Eleven people were injured in an attack early Sunday in the French Quarter of New Orleans, a famous tourist center, the U.S. authorities said, adding that two of the victims were in serious condition.
The shooting occurred at about 3:00 a.m. on a crowded shopping street near several hotels in the historic district, which draws tourists from all over the nation.
No injuries were confirmed, and the cops confirmed they responded immediately to the accident as extra patrols were on duty for the annual Thanksgiving University soccer weekend in town.
“On that very block, we had officers who thought they were being fired,” police superintendent Shaun Ferguson told journalists.
“Sadly, there were many individuals around here that we are unable to determine who was actually shooting shots at the moment.
The New Orleans Sheriff’s department announced via its Twitter feed that no charges had been reported and inquiries are underway.
