United Arab Emirates suspends issuance of all visas due to coronavirus
The United Arab Emirates has announced that it’s temporarily suspending issuance of all types of visas from March 17, with the exception of diplomatic passport holders.
In a report from WAM, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC) clarified in a statement released today, March 14, that this is part of the government’s preventive and precautionary measures as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) reached ‘pandemic’ status as announced by the World Health Organization earlier.
The decision does not apply to those who already have their visas issued prior to the aforementioned date.
In addition, the temporary suspension is only applied pending the implementation of a medical examination process as an additional measure prior to granting the visa.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship affirms that the decision is part of its efforts to safeguard the health of the public from the hazards of the viral disease and hopes that the measures put in place would help the country’s ongoing efforts against the coronavirus.
