UAE: Sharjah bans Iftar tents and distribution as Covid-19 rules issued
The Sharjah Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team (ECDMT) has issued several Covid-19 safety rules for residents to follow during the holy month of Ramadan.
The directives come days after Dubai and Ajman cancelled Ramadan tents.
Family and institutional Iftar tents are banned. Iftar banquets for groups; and distributing Iftar meals in front of restaurants, at gatherings, or in front of homes and mosques, cars or any other means is banned as well.
Advertising or offering special offers for Iftar meals are not allowed.
Distribution of free charity meals is only allowed through the official charitable bodies accredited in the emirate.
Inspections will be stepped to ensure compliance with the rules, the authority added.
Residents are advised to call the police on 901 if they spot any Covid-19 safety rules being broken.
