Reduction in rate of increase in number of expats

The rate of increase in the number of expatriates in the country has decreased by 65 percent in 2017 for the first time since 1992.

According to a government report, the annual increase in the non-Kuwaiti population in 2017 was 125,694, while the annual increase in 2016 was 358,719, this shows a reduction in the increase of number of expats in the country.

The sources attributed this reduction to the decision issued by the interior ministry and the manpower authority to curb marginal labor.
