Quad countries to pledge donation of 1.2 billion Covid19 vaccine doses
The Quad countries : the United States, Japan, India and Australia said on Friday that they will pledge more than 1.2 billion doses of the vaccines against coronavirus disease globally in addition to the vaccines financed through COVAX.
Quad will ensure expanded vaccine manufacturing India is exported for the Indo-Pacific and the world. “We launched the Quad Vaccine Experts Group, comprised of top experts from our respective governments, charged with building strong ties and better aligning our plans to support Indo-Pacific health security and COVID-19 response,” they said further adding that the partnership on COVID-19 response and relief marks an historic new focus for the Quad.
“We will continue to strengthen and support the life-saving work of international organizations and partnerships, including the WHO, COVAX, Gavi, CEPI, and UNICEF; and national governments,” the statement said.
