Oman to give Pfizer vaccine to those over 65
Oman’s Ministry of Health today announced that the COVID–19 vaccination for the new target group will start from February 7. The new target group – all above 65 years of age – will be given Pfizer vaccine at the previously assigned clinics for vaccination purposes.
The Ministry also noted that the vaccine will be given to this target group regardless of whether they have a medical condition or not. The previous target group within the general community included those whose medical conditions comprised their immunity levels.

Those who have already taken the Pfizer/BionTech in the first phase, when the inoculation campaign kicked off, are not covered by this vaccine announcement. Those who have yet to take their second shot will be intimated by healthcare officials.
The Minister of Health in an earlier press conference had mentioned that there is no law that compels anyone to take any vaccination other than the inoculations for infants and kids. The decision to take the vaccine is up to the discretion of each individual, and that everyone relies on community awareness.
The vaccine is administered at around 40 centres across Oman. Within the Muscat governorate the centres that are open for this are Al Seeb Specialised Polyclinic, Bausher Specialised Polyclinic and Quriyat Polyclinic.
