Mohamed Salah claims he cannot leave house for Eid Al Fitr
Mohamed Salah has criticised the media and public attention of himself in Egypt and complained he is not even able to leave his house during Eid Al Fitr.
The Liverpool forward has returned to Cairo after helping his club side win the Uefa Champions League with the first goal in their 2-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in Madrid.
But now back in his home country ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations, which Egypt are hosting and begins on June 21, he has been left irked by the amount of public scrutiny on him and blames media for it.
He wrote in a tweet in Arabic on Tuesday: “One isn’t able to go out of the house for Eid prayer because of what some journalists and people are doing.
“This has nothing to do with love. What this is called is a lack of respect and especially a lack of professionalism.”
Last summer after the World Cup Salah’s home address was leaked and hundreds of people converged on his residence, with the 26-year-old on that occasion going out to speak with some fans, sign autographs and have his picture taken.
Salah and Egypt are looking to win the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time since 2010 and are in Group A of the tournament. They play Zimbabwe, DR Congo and Uganda in the group stages.
