Kuwait: Shrimp selling prices
The fish market in Sharq opened its doors with entry in the market with prior reservation/appointment system.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) specified the selling prices for shrimp to ensure ample supply for consumers, affirming the availability of 150 baskets of different sizes of shrimp on Saturday.
“The fish market in Sharq and Fahaheel will be open from 6am to 5pm, and shoppers have to book in advance online at the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s website,” Al Suwaiyan added. He added the ministry will continue to regulate the sale of catches on the stalls after the auction was cancelled, in addition to monitoring prices and adhering to health requirements.
The ministry’s decision states that the price of ‘Shahamiya’ shrimp should not exceed KD30 for 20 kilograms, while the price of assorted shrimps should not exceed KD 50 for 20 kilograms and not more than KD 90 for 20 kilograms of jumbo shrimps.
On the other hand, local fish, imported fish was available in sheer quantity such as Tilapia for 1.5 KD, Mullet 2 KD, Iranian grouper 3.5 KD, Saudi grouper 3 KD and sea bass 4 KD per kiloand shrimp are available in Sharq Market where the price monitors from the ministry checked the weight of shrimp baskets that were distributed to stalls, cooperative societies, parallel markets, restaurants and companies.
