The Labor Department sent a proposal to the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) renew the work permits of expatriates above 60 years of age and without a university degree by charging 100 KD per year, doubling the amount annually.

If this approved, expatriates above 60 without a university degree will be able to renew their work permit, which currently is not possible, by paying 100 kd for the first year, and double the amount every successive year.

According to report, from January hundreds of expats who are above 60 have transferred their residence to Article 22 and 24, as they are stopped from renewing their work permit as per the current rule.

Ministry reiterated that the current rule is applicable for all and denied rumors such that this rule is not applicable for those born in Kuwait etc.
