Kuwait: Flights for return of domestic workers to begin December 14

With the National Aviation Services (NAS) launching Belsalamah.com, an online platform to facilitate a smooth and easy return for domestic workers, the first flight is expected to land on December 14, Al Anba reported. The Belsalamah.com platform became operational at 3pm on Monday.

A source told Al Anba there are five steps to the platform, where the sponsor will need to register the name and civil ID of the domestic worker, determine the date of arrival, origin of destination and pay the necessary fees.

The government has set the quarantine fee at 270 Kuwaiti dinars, which includes 14-day accommodation, meals and three PCR tests. The source pointed out that 58 residential buildings have been allocated as quarantine facilities, which include separate accommodation for men and women, distributed based on nationality.

Kuwait airways and Al Jazeera are jointly working to schedule charter flights.

According information from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), three weeks ago, the price for an airline ticket will be as follows: 110 Kuwaiti dinars for those coming from India, 220 Kuwaiti dinars for those coming from Philippines and 145 Kuwaiti dinars for those coming from Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh.

A source told Al Rai these are fixed rates because if the price was left to the market then it can drastically rise, especially since there is a limited number of seats. Although Kuwait is expecting 80,000 domestic workers to return, a daily cap has been set at 600 passengers per day.
