Kalank celeb review: Bollywood calls Karan Johar’s film a visual treat

It’s not every day that you get to see Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in one film. But director Abhishek Varman managed to pull off a casting coup of sorts by getting six big names of Bollywood together for a film. And this has caused much excitement among fans and B-Town. While the first show of Kalank is about to roll out in theatres, a handful of Bollywood celebrities attended the special screening of Karan Johar’s production venture last night. And since then, they cannot stop raving about the period drama.

From Neha Dhupia to Shashank Khaitan to Milap Zaveri, many celebrities took to social media to shower love and praise on Karan Johar’s magnum opus.

If Neha Dhupia called the film “a winner,” Dhadak filmmaker Shashank Khaitan referred to Kalank as “a visual treat.” Celebrity hairstylist Hakim Alim also lauded Abhishek Varman’s directorial venture and called it “cinematic.”

Kalank is a film set ia n pre-independence era that takes you back in time with intricately interwoven stories of six characters who are connected by love and revenge. With its opulent sets, breathtaking visuals, larger-than-life characters and an intriguing plotline, Kalank has emerged as one of the most-anticipated films of 2019.

The film also brings together the hit jodi of Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Dutt after a gap of 22 years. Talking about the experience of working together after two decades, Sanjay Dutt said, “It was great to work with her again. I was a little nervous, but she made things easy. She’s got terrific command as an actor. We spoke about our kids. In fact, I made my children [Shahraan and Iqra] meet her when they dropped by on the sets.”

Kalank hits the screens on April 17.
