Japan : Mount Aso erupts raising level 3 alert
Japan’s Mount Aso erupted Wednesday, spewing a giant column of ash 11,500 Feet into the sky.
No injuries were immediately reported however, the Meteorological agency raised the alert level for 3, on a scale of 1-5. People are warned to stay off the area surrounding the mountain for safety measures. Local police said that all the hikers that we on the mountain earlier in the day, came back safely.
The last time the JMA set the same warning level for Aso was when it erupted in 2016, having rumbled to life the previous year after being dormant for 19 years.
Japan happens to be on the “Ring of fire” where a large proportion of the planet’s quakes and volcanic eruptions are recorded. This makes Japan one of the most volcanically active countries.
