India: Twitter users celebrate Kisan Diwas 2019, And be thankful to every farmer
Annually, on December 23, Kisan Diwas (or National Farmers ‘ Day) is celebrated in India. This day honors the country’s true heroes, the farmers. They’re our nation’s backbone. The farmers work hard to put food on our wheels in and out and in all kinds of weather circumstances.
Kisan Diwas, also regarded as the National Farmer’s Day, is observed on the birthday of India’s fifth prime minister, Chaudhary Charan Singh. From July 1979 to January 1980, he served as the PM.
Chaudhary Charan Singh, throughout his tenure, initiated many important policies to improve the country’s farmers ‘ predicament.
Many netizens took to social media on this honorary day to articulate their gratefulness to farmers for all they did. Twitter is filled with posts to thank and laud the farmers and their praiseworthy work.
“No farmer.. No food.. No life.. If u ate today, thank a farmer. Salute to all the farmers,” a tweet read.
