India: Mumbai local authorities find a quirky approach to discipline people walking on trails in Mumbai
Citizens in Mumbai are always in a rush to get to their goal, and there are some of them who do not take a railway bridge but choose to run across the railway.
As per the statistics, more than 700 people were killed of a trespass in the month of June. Over the last century, trespassing has resulted in 19,781 deaths across the suburban area but has been steadily decreasing over the decades.
The western railway has come up with a strange notion to raise awareness and consistency for commuters. WR named ‘ Yamaraj, ‘ the god of death, to increase awareness among errant riders.
A member of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) dressed as ‘ YamRaj ‘ holds people who try to cross uncontrolled tracks and provide safety awareness information to the press.
The Western Railway (WR) project began on 6 November and was propelled by crowded platforms like Andheri & Malad.
The ‘ Yamraj ‘ directing citizens not to jump the tracks attracted eyeballs from a lot of commuters and enjoyed the ride.
The Western Railway has initiated a number of drives to increase awareness among commuters about security and sanitation.
