India: Moderate downpour in Delhi-NCR brings the temperature down, But air quality still remains unchanged
The weather in areas of Delhi and its surrounding areas drops after light rains on Thursday.
In the meantime, light rain is anticipated over South-Delhi, Ghaziabad, Chapraula, Noida, Hindon-Air Force Station, Panipat, Gulaothi, Siyana, Modinagar, Bijnor, Khatoli, Muzaffarnagar and adjacent areas in the next few hours.
With the rise in wind speed, Delhi’s pollution levels improved a bit but stayed in the ‘ bad ‘ category. Nevertheless, the levels of pollution in Noida remained in the ‘ very low ‘ class.
By around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Delhi reported an average AQI of 235 at PM level 2.5 and Noida at PM level 2.5 at 301.
After Diwali night, the air quality of the national capital was hit by a combination of firecracker emissions, stubble burning, and unfavorable weather conditions.
On Monday, an amusing-even scheme started in the provincial capital in an effort to provide some relief from the pollution that has transformed Delhi into a gas chamber. One of the major causes of such sudden high air pollution in Delhi is the burning of stubble in surrounding states.
Amid the worsening air pollution crisis in Delhi-NCR, the Prime Minister’s Secretary-General, PK Mishra, and the Indian Cabinet Secretary, Rajiv Gauba, holds the highest-level conference on Sunday to discuss air pollution through videoconferences.
