India mandates 10-day quarantine and Covid19 test for all U.K. Nationals

India has imposed mandatory quarantine for all U.K. nationals arriving in the country, even if they are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. From Monday, British citizens will have to undergo ten days of home quarantine after arriving in India.

From October 4, all U.K. nationals arriving in India from the U.K., irrespective of their vaccination status, will have to undertake the following measures:

  • Pre-departure Covid-19 RT-PCR test within 72 hours before travel
  • RT-PCR test on arrival at airport
  • RT-PCR test on Day 8 after landing, and
  • Mandatory quarantine at home or in destination address for 10 days post arrival in India.

This comes weeks after India warned that it will be within its rights to initiate reciprocal measures if the U.K. does not address concerns over the new travel rules relating to Covid-19 vaccine certification

Indians who are fully vaccinated with that jab must still quarantine on arrival in the U.K.. But similarly, vaccinated travellers to the U.K. from many other countries are not facing the same restrictions.
