India: 3 claimed their lives in a flare-up at firecracker shop in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon
Three individuals, including the shop owner, were burned to death in a fire at a firecracker shop in Kondagaon region of Chhattisgarh, policemen said on Monday.
The mishap took place in grocer Kashi Sen’s shop in Makdi village late on Sunday midnight.
Policemen said that Sen ran a grocery shop near Bazaar Chowk in the community and also sold firecrackers from there through Diwali celebration as he had a permit.
Sen sold firecrackers to the villagers on Sunday on Diwali and his two friends – Balram Netam and Shivlal Shrimali – leaned in to help him in controlling the crowd at the store.
The three continued inside the shop after pulling the shutters and the firecrackers stored there took fire at around 11.30 pm, police responded.
An official spoke police hurried to the spot and that the flames were splashed with the aid of locals.
The flames, nevertheless, gutted the whole store and the three men died on the scene.
A unit of specialists from a forensic science laboratory attended the site on Monday morning to determine the specific cause of the fire.
