One individual was murdered and five others injured on Thursday in gunfire on the roads of Washington, DC, not distant from the White House, states Reuters citing policemen.

Mounties have not arrested a suspect as of late Thursday and do not comprehend the reason for the gunfire, stated Metropolitan Police chief Stuart Emerman.

He stated it is not an actual firing position.

“Detectives are interrogating spectators and viewing for camera footage,” Emerman stated.

There were five male victims and one female victim. Of the five, two were considered critical and other injuries ranged from serious to minor, but all were expected to survive their injuries, Emerman said.

The shooting erupted in the Columbia Heights community, about two miles (three km) from the White House on Thursday nighttime about 10 p.m., and arrived outdoors in a lawn of an apartment structure.

ABC subsidiary WJLA-TV posted pictures on Twitter of ambulances transporting victims from the scene and told there had been an “extensive” police acknowledgment at the junction of 14th Street and Columbia Road.

Positioned on the Potomac River, Washington DC is the center of the United States and the support of the federal government.
