Founder of Alibaba Jack Ma donates 1 million face masks
China’s richest man and Alibaba founder donated one million face masks and 500,000 coronavirus disease or COVID-19 test kits to the United States.
Jack Ma’s foundation also donated 1 million masks to Japan to help the country in their effort to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. This was Ma’s way of giving back after Japan extended help during outbreak in China.
Though, these masks are not for general public use and will be distributed medical institutions suffering from shortages after they consulted the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and other organizations on this.
A funding agreement was also signed by his foundation with the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity to contribute AU$3.2 million towards the development of a vaccine against the new coronavirus.
