Ex- Dutch secretary of state Ella Vogelaar commits suicide
Retired Dutch minister Ella Vogelaar performed suicide at the age of 69, her relatives spoke on Tuesday night.
“She had been experiencing from depression for quite some time and has put an end to her life,” stated a family narrative.
From 2004 to 2007, Vogelaar was the director of Oxfam Novib, the largest Dutch international community organization, and from February 2007 continuously the end of 2008, she was the diplomat of housing, neighborhoods, and integration in the fourth cabinet of Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende on the support of the Labor Party PvdA.
Subsequent a year and a half as a minister, she lost the reliance of the PvdA board and had to leave. During her short time in office, Vogelaar presented a list of forty disadvantaged communities in large cities and supported them to earn extra expenses. Those neighborhoods were soon given the title “Vogelaar neighborhoods.”
