Emir of Kuwait calls for unity in the fight against COVID-19
Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah has called on all the residents of the country to stand in unity in the fight against coronavirus pandemic urging them to support the government’s efforts.
During his annual television address, The Emir of Kuwait stressed the importance of following the guidelines set by the country’s health authorities including the upcoming full lockdown.
Ramadan this year came during the spread of COVID-19 with everyone around the world and Kuwait being affected, he said
The efforts should be focused on finding a successful cure for the virus, he added.
The decline in oil prices and the value of investment assets since the start of the coronavirus outbreak will adversely affect the “financial solvency” of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber Al-Sabah has said.
The current pandemic had resulted in various challenges specifically the decline in oil prices and the value of investments and assets.

There has been an alarming spike in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Kuwait, on Saturday Kuwait reported 415 new coronavirus cases and 2 deaths, bringing the total cases in the country up to 7,623.
Kuwait imposes a total curfew starting today at 4 p.m till May 30 to help curb the spread of the coronavirus, the Information Ministry said on Twitter on Friday.
Once total curfew begins everyone is permitted to walk in their own residential area without the use of an vehicle. from 4:30 to 6:30.
Kuwait Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah said that there will be a gradual opening keeping in view of precautionary measures after the period of a total lockdown.
