#DidYouKnow: Most expensive watch in the world sold for Rs 226 crore
Rs 226 crore, man. In fact, that’s a huge amount. But with that amount, someone just bought a wristwatch.
The exclusive wristwatch manufactured by the Swiss luxury watch company Patek Philippe has recently been sold for 31 million Swiss francs (Rs 226 crore). This record was made at the charity auction, Only Watch 2019, held in Geneva.
The first and only Grandmaster Chime 6300A-010 of Patek Philippe was created exclusively for auction. It received the highest price and is now the highest expensive watch in the world.
The purchaser of the exclusive watch remains unconfirmed.
The watch is crafted of special stainless steel and has two dials, one in rose gold and the other in black ebony. It also has five modes of chiming, two of which will be patented as the globe’s first. There is also an acoustic alarm and a date repeater that tells the date on request. Other characteristics include dust and moisture resistance and comes with a reversible stainless steel scenario.
The purchase amount will go to the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Association of Monaco. It funds research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a degenerative neuromuscular disease.
