De De Pyaar De actress Rakul Preet on love: Older guy or younger, it doesn’t matter
Rakul Preet will be seen romancing Ajay Devgn, who is more than two decades her senior, in Akiv Ali’s directorial debut De De Pyaar De. During an interview with Mumbai Mirror, she was asked if she has fallen in love with someone older than her in real life.
“In real life, I’m waiting to fall in love. Older guy or younger, it doesn’t matter,” she said.
De De Pyaar De revolves around Ashish (Ajay Devgn), a wealthy 50-year-old man who falls in love with Ayesha (Rakul Preet), who is almost half his age. Things get complicated when his ex-wife Manju (Tabu) comes into the picture.
Talking about the film, Rakul said, “De De Pyaar De belongs to a quirky space, but at the end of the day, it’s also a very progressive film. Each character is well etched and the premise is all the more relevant in today’s time when relationships are not defined by numbers. It’s about finding the right companion without age being a consideration. The subject has been treated light-heartedly, but there’s a strong emotional undercurrent.”
According to the actress, De De Pyaar De is suited for a family audience. “Despite the fact that the man is caught between his ex-wife and a much-younger woman he is dating, it’s a wholesome comedy that I can watch with my parents,” she said.
De De Pyaar De, which also features Jaaved Jaaferi, Jimmy Shergill and Alok Nath in pivotal roles, is scheduled to hit the theatres on May 17.
