Covid19 – Pakistan to start vaccination for 50-59 age group from April 21st
While coronavirus-related deaths in the country have surpassed the figure of 16,000, number of active cases has swelled to 79,108 with 4,984 patients admitted to hospitals.
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) decided on Saturday to start vaccination of people in the 50-59 age group from Wednesday, April 21.
The announcement came as the number of active Covid-19 cases in the country spiked to 79,108, with 4,984 patients currently hospitalised.
The country’s vaccination drive began with the frontline healthcare workers earlier in February. On March 10, the second phase was launched for people over 60.
Last week, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan will receive 15 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine under COVAX a platform to ensure coronavirus shots reach those in greatest need by May 2021.
