Covid19 – Mumbai reports over 9000 cases in a day
Mumbai today reported more than 9,000 daily coronavirus cases, which is the Maharashtra capital’s highest ever single-day spike. It also logged 27 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra chief minister has urged people of Mumbai as well as the entire state to adhere to Covid-19 preventative measures. He also warned on Friday that the present surge may lead to a lockdown if the state’s Covid19 situation deteriorates.
Maharashtra, which is the worst hit state in the country, has reported 49,447 coronavirus cases and 277 deaths in a day. This is Maharashtra’s highest-ever single day figure.
The civic body said Mumbai has 62,187 active Covid-19 cases. India, which is facing a second wave of infections, today logged 89,129 new coronavirus cases. Today’s surge was the highest since September 20, when 92,605 cases were reported.
