Covid19 : Maharashtra records alarming rise in infections

Maharashtra on Tuesday another spike in daily Covid19 cases with 2,172 fresh infections, taking the state tally to 66,61,486, according to a bulletin from the health department. Among these, none were Omicron.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Wednesday expressed concern regarding surge in active Covid19 cases in Maharashtra. He called it an alarming situation and urged people and authorities to follow precautionary measures to ensure safety from Covid19. According to him, cases in last week stood between the range of 5,000-6,000.

“Worrying to see the number of active cases increasing in the State. Mumbai’s positivity rate is at 4%. If this goes above 5%, then we will have to think about imposing restrictions,” Rajesh tope said.

India has reported 9,195 Covid19 cases and 302 deaths in 24 hours, the government said on Wednesday. The country’s Omicron tally stands at 781.
