Covid19 – Diners at Paris restaurant fined for violating protocols
Paris police said late Saturday that they had fined more than 100 diners at an underground restaurant flouting COVID-19 restrictions and arrested its organiser, after a week of allegations that ministers attended similar rule-breaking events.
The swoop in the French capital’s 19th arrondissement was the latest police action against restaurants breaking the rules to offer patrons a slice of pre-pandemic life.
Restaurants, bars and cafes have been closed for sit-down dining for months, and public frustration is growing amid a third national lockdown and another wave of coronavirus infections.
Participants were shown enjoying caviar and champagne at the event costing 220 euros per person.
