COVID-19: Kuwait announces 947 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

Kuwait on Thursday confirmed 947 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours, taking to 11,975 its infection tally, the Health Ministry said.

The Health Ministry also reported 6 more deaths from COVID-19, taking to 88 the total such fatalities in Kuwait.

175 patients are in intensive care from these 95 are in critical condition.

The Ministry of Interior stated that on Wednesday, 13th May, total of 23 people violated curfew law. From these 16 were Kuwaiti nationals where as 7 were expats.

5 in Kuwait city, 6 in Hawally, 8 in Farwaniya, 1 in Jahra and 3 in Ahmadi area violated full curfew in Kuwait..

The health minister said recent daily Coronavirus cases have been on a rise after Kuwaiti citizens were repatriated from abroad and due to the failure to abide by social distancing, which they have expected. Minister of Health, Sheikh Dr. Basel Al-Sabah said.

The ministry also said 188 more patients have recovered from COVID-19, raising to 3,451 the total recoveries in the country.

Repatriation of Kuwait’s from Saudi Arabia through the land checkpoint Al-Nuwaiseeb has began, at least 400 citizens expected to enter each day.

Kuwait imposes a total curfew in the country till May 30 to help curb the spread of the coronavirus. People in Kuwait have been told to follow curfew restrictions and abide by the health authority instructions.

During the total curfew everyone is permitted to walk in their own residential area without the use of an vehicle from 4:30 to 6:30 pm.

Kuwait said that there will be a gradual opening keeping in view of precautionary measures after the period of a total lockdown.
