Communal violence in Bangladesh

Protests began on Wednesday in Bangladesh after footage of Quran being placed on the knee of a Hindu god during Durga Puja emerged.

More than 200 protestors attacked a Hindu temple where members of the said community were preparing to perform the final rituals of the 10th Day of Navratri festival.

On Saturday, protests erupted for the second time, amid a wave of violence against Local Hindus following a popular social media image, which is perceived as insulting to the country’s Muslim majority.

Bangladesh police has booked over 4,000 named and unnamed people for communal violence. They were charged with vandalism, assaulting security’s personnel and obstruction of government duty.
