China has made a fresh push to raise the issue of Kashmir at a closed-door meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Wednesday, but the effort is likely to fail as all the other member countries of the council are expected to resist it.
French diplomatic sources have said that France has taken note of the proposal made by a member of the United Nations Security Council to raise the issue of Kashmir once again in the powerful body and will reject it as it did on the previous occasion.

Reports said that France’s stance has not shifted and is very clear — the question of Kashmir must be resolved bilaterally. This has been mentioned on several occasions and will continue to be repeated to the UN Security Council members, they added.
Last month, France, the United States, the United Kingdom and Russia opposed China’s attempt to discuss Kashmir at a closed-door conference of the United Nations Security Council.
China has been dismissive of the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir by India.
