China: 14 workers killed, 2 trapped after a gas explosion in a coal mine

At least 14 men, burned alive in a coal mine hereafter an oil and coal explosion, were shot dead on Tuesday, local councils reported.

At most two strikers are still stuck in the tunnel, Xinhua confirmed.

The incident happened on Saturday at the Shanmushu coal mine operated by the Sichuan Coal Industry Group, where at least 346 miners were employed underground.

The rescue personnel had experienced problems in finding the miners owing to a contact delay.
