Canadian Prime Minister tests Covid19 positive
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday said he had tested positive for the coronavirus disease Covid19. “I am feeling fine – and I’ll continue to work remotely this week while following public health guidelines,” Trudeau wrote on Twitter.
Trudeau and his family have been isolating for days after announcing an exposure to Covid19. At least one of his three school-age children also has tested positive, according to the Prime Minister’s office. Trudeau did not disclose how he was exposed. He met in person Wednesday with several members of his Cabinet.
The Canadian prime minister was detected with Covid19 infection two days after massive protests were held in Ottawa against the government’s vaccine mandates.
Canada has one of the world’s highest rates of vaccination against the coronavirus shots which are primarily designed to keep those who become infected from falling seriously ill.
