Canada – PM Trudeau and his wife receive 1st dose of AstraZeneca vaccine
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Sophie Gregoire received their first jab of the Covid-19 vaccine on Friday, with both getting the AstraZeneca injection what was symbolic support for it.
The Trudeaus received their injection at a pharmacy in Ottawa, and just before getting the jab, the Prime Minister said he was “very excited”. That inoculation came as the National Advisory Council on Immunisation or NACI also lowered the age threshold for getting the AZ vaccine from those over 55 to the 30-plus category.
His wife Sophie had contracted the novel coronavirus in March 2020, forcing the prime minister to self-isolate at the time in his Ottawa residence.
The Canadian leader also reiterated Thursday evening on Twitter: “The best vaccine for you is the first one offered to you.” Trudeau was not the only politician who received the vaccine. His cabinet colleague Canadian Health Minister Patty Hajdu also received her first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine at Mountdale Pharmacy.
