British Health minister insists to reimpose Covid19 curbs
Britain’s health minister insisted Saturday reimposing coronavirus restrictions in England would be “an absolute last resort” and that the country must “try to live with Covid19”.
The rapid spread of the new variant means the prime minister may have to introduce “tighter restrictions, at real speed” to reduce the number of people falling ill with Covid.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have all imposed curbs such as limits on numbers allowed to gather, nightclub closures and social distancing measures in pubs.
The rapid spread of the Omicron variant across the United Kingdom has sent infections to record highs, with close to 190,000 new cases reported on Friday.
