Bahrain makes rapid test devices available
Bahrain has said that devices for rapid COVID-19 tests will be made available at pharmacies in the kingdom. The devices, presenting test results in 15 minutes, are meant for self-testing and sell for BD4 per piece, the Health Ministry has said.
“Such initiatives reflect the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to introduce modern technologies in the field of diagnosis and treatment to limit the spread of the coronavirus,” it added.
A list of pharmacies where the rapid testing devices are available will be provided on the ministry’s website healthalert gov.bh and will be regularly updated for public viewing.
However, the ministry noted that the PCR testing is the only accredited diagnosing tool in Bahrain.
Last month, Bahrain introduced the rapid test service on a trial basis to detect COVID-19.
This type of testing detects coronavirus infections through a nasal swab and accurately diagnoses the patient’s case without a need for a specialised lab.
The rapid test is characteristically easy to use and saves time as it can be conducted in campaigns to examine a large number of people in a short span of time.
