An emirati gal started directing a horror film in dubai
The Shadow, a horror movie directed by Nayla Al Khaja, the Emirati filmmaker and producer, will commence important photography in Dubai with the assistance of the Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC).
Horror movie The Shadow, unfolded by Epic Films and Señorita Films, is set to be filmed in the forthcoming months.
Handling the Emirati accent, the tale of a sick nine-year-old in the grip of uncontrolled appearances – and the desperate steps his mum takes behind closed doorways to protect his life – is based on original events that Al Khaja encountered herself.
DFTC stated it has worked jointly with the director to fast-track the means and receive all required filming permissions.
A DFTC representative responded: “We are happy to provide this project and help skilled local directors such as Nayla. DFTC is sent to offering services that assist Emirati filmmakers to accomplish their aims and impel them onto the global stage, in line with the aims of Dubai Plan 2021that aims at connecting Dubai’s position as a center for artistic and empowered personalities.”
Over the last several times, Dubai has developed as one of the best picks for international filmmakers. Numerous Bollywood and Hollywood movies, including Mission: Impossible, Zero, Star Trek, Happy New Year, Kong Fu Yoga and Vanguard have been shot in the emirate.
In 2018, DFTC stated it issued a sum of 980 filming licenses and began one working day turnaround point for circulating permits.
Al Khaja told: “Globally, only 5 % of women directors concentrate in this style. I’m genuinely expecting to encourage more women in the precinct to obey my lead and plunge into filming difficult issues based on more hard-hitting stories. The UAE requires female focus film directors of a set caliber, and it’s roughly time we observe a change in this section.”
