Almost 11,000 expats leave Kuwait in one month

Almost 11,000 expats leave Kuwait in one month

At least 10,880 expatriates have left Kuwait in less than a month during the period from January 12 to February 10, Al Seyassah newspaper reported.

According to official statistics issued by the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), the number of expatriate workers who left the labour market with cancelled work permits during that period was 363 per day.

Of the total cancelled permits, 4,024 were cancelled because of expatriates’ final travel, 611 were cancelled due to death of the holders, 257 work permits were transferred to family visa, and 5,988 for residency outside the country.

Meanwhile, the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) said 99,000 residents renewed work permits betweenJanuary 12 to February 10, according to Al Qabas daily.

The PAM statistics show the total number of workers whose residence permits have expired while outside the country has risen to 6,000, in addition to more than 4,000 who requested the cancellation of their work permit in order to leave the country. According to statistics, PAM approved 11,000 university degrees, and 47,000 companies benefited from the Authority’s electronic services. The statistic also showed that the work contracts of 5,000 Kuwaiti employees in the private sector have been updated, while 1,556 have been cancelled.
