Akshay, Ayushmann, and Vicky praise everyone at the 2019 National Film Awards
The 66th National Film Awards are here and, as always, inspiring, it has Kerala, Mumbai and Delhi winners. The awards show was meant to see megastar Amitabh Bachchan, who was unable to make it to the event due to health problems.
National Film Awards in New Delhi on Monday were attended by Akshay Kumar, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal and Keerthy Suresh.
After the ceremony, Akshay, Ayushmann and Vicky were congratulating each other on their respective wins.
Akshay’s Padman movie has won in the category of Best Film On Social Issues. The release for 2018 was based on the life of Tamil Nadu social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham who introduced low-cost health pads. Indian Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar presented the awards.
Ayushmann has been awarded Andhadhun’s Best Actor Award (2018). Sriram Raghavan wrote the screenplay.
Vicky earned Uri’s Best Actor Award: The Surgical Strike with Ayushmann. The film was based on the Indian Army’s surgical strike on September 29, 2016.
At the ceremony, Surekha Sikri was awarded Best Supporting Actress for her appearance in Badhaai Ho’s Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer. Shortly after the ceremony, actress Neena Gupta on Twitter congratulated her, saying, “Ton of love surekha Ji.”
At the ceremony, South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh won for Mahanti Best Actress Award.
At the ceremony, filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was honored with Padmaavat’s Best Music Director award. His movie also won another two major awards at this year’s 66th National Film Awards: Ghoomar’s Best Choreography and Binte Dil’s Best Male Playback Singer.
