5 dead, 50 injured as 5.8 earthquake hits POK & North India
Five people died and 50 were wounded after a tremor holding 5.8 on the Richter scale hit Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir’s Mirpur on Tuesday at 4:32 pm. The epicenter of the quake was 140 kilometers from Srinagar at the bottom of 10 kilometers, the United States Geological Survey stated.
As per the to co-ordinates published by the US company, the epicenter of the aftershock was discovered near the New Mirpur city in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Shakings of the earthquake were felt in Delhi-NCR, Chandigarh, Kashmir, sections of Himachal as well as numerous towns in Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area.
Shortly after the earthquake punched, Twitter was filled with photos and videos showing cracked roads and damaged vehicles in the New Mirpur city. J&K DG Dilbagh Singh while speaking to India Today TV confirmed that “so far there have been no reports of injury in any part of Jammu and Kashmir.”
