13 passengers of Italy-India flight that tested positive upon arrival flee quarantine

At least 13 passengers, who tested positive for Covid19 upon their arrival in the Indian city of Amritsar, have escaped institutional quarantine. They were among 125 infected passengers on a chartered flight from Milan which landed on Wednesday afternoon.

While the travelers who tested positive were in transit to a local hospital Thursday, at least 10 became separated from the main group and were able to evade authorities.

Punjab, where Amritsar is located, is among several states that have brought back curbs to fight the rise in Covid-19 infections. On Tuesday, the state-imposed a temporary night curfew and shut all schools and colleges.
